TwentyTen: One

I brought in the New Year sitting and listening to my Pastor discuss all the great and wonderful things that would be happening this year, back in November of 2009. Great and mighty things will take place, he resonates, causing his congregation all over the world to smile broadly. We are so ready to shake the dust off of our boots from 2009 and start a new with a new pair of kicks for TwentyTen. The newness has long worn off: the hope for things to be accomplished by the end of the year have faded along with Halloween candy and the refreshing air of starting anew begins to fill the room once again. We approach the holidays with a mouth-watering determination-- a form of getting-it-all-in before you're back on the salad and everything-broiled train that one abandons at the first whiff of spring barbecue.

Being introduced to Charisma, the online site that allows Christians to read and comment on articles, prophecies, words of encouragement and disdain alike, my eyes followed the numerous words written about many deaths happening in TwentyTen. Back to back and inevitable, many bodies and souls will perish in not just earthly catastrophes, but in also a great falling away in the church world-wide. It was documented that there will be "the highest of highs and the lowest of lows" to be experienced this year, and contrary to popular belief, the Christian people are not exempt.

We are in this world, and yet we are not of it. John 17:16.

If one would ever take the time and go back and listen to what the teachers, doctors, ministers, preachers and bishops of the Charismatic Word-of-Faith movement have ministered on in the past year, you will hear a lot of doctrine in the ways of renewing your mind, not walking in offense, taking off the old man/putting on the new man, the Abrahamic covenant, the power of the Blood of Jesus, how to overcome lack, fear and loss. All in preparation for this exciting, for lack of a better term, year.

Sitting and listening, and preferring to do so over praying and reading the Word, I noticed this trend and tried to soak up as much as I could. Realizing that's why they have tapes and CDs of everything, I acknowledge that you can only absorb what your mind/heart/spirit are ready to absorb. With that, it is in fact quite possible to get new revelation on a message each and every time you hear it. God is just that good.
